Back and Fourth

of July that is.

Carrie's brother Ross came out for his annual visit during the summer for a change.

We took him to Turner for their Library Book Sale and parade. Since the paraders often tossed candy to the crowd, he liked it very much. Plus he does like patriotic things and people waved back at him, so he felt a part of the event.

If you look closely, you can see us reflected in this hub cap.

We also had a day at the beach, which he loved once he stopped being afraid of the waves.

We took him to some swap meets and flea markets as he has liked those in the past, but the days were so muggy he really didn't like the effort. And we took him to his favorite local restaurant, Tintin's.

Some where in all this, Carrie took him out to see some local fireworks displays. I stayed home to comfort the animals and man the garden hose just in case. Fireworks are now legal in Maine.

White Dreams

Carrie & Ross in our back woods.

We have Ross up for his annual visit and were afraid he wasn't going to have a white christmas. The recent snow kept turning to rain and washing away. Today was supposed to be precipitation free, but look! It's snowing!

christmas presence

Carrie's brother Ross came out to visit us from Arizona and we all went outside to play in the snow. Ross and Pandora had the most fun. She is normally shy around strangers, but must be able to sense kinship because she has always been happy to see Ross and my sister, Kemmer.
.
I got the newest in the series of the hardcover reprints of the T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents comics as well as a couple of Avengers (the TV series) books. Also a couple of Hong Kong action movie DVDs. The present I'm playing with most, though, is my new 1 terabyte external hard drive. I'm going to use it to store all my photos and artwork scans. I've already put more than 12,000 photos on it and that is just a drop in the bucket of its capacity.
.
Today we're having a blizzard. I got out the snowblower and cleared enough to get my car out, then Carrie took over while I got ready for work. Just before leaving, though, I called in to work and found out the office is closed. Snow Day!

Family Values

We flew Carrie's brother Ross out from Arizona christmas eve so he could spend the holiday with us. It was nice that the snow didn't get all washed away by the rain and warmer temperatures. We took him out through our meadow in an attempt to do some sledding, but it didn't work out quite as easily as we'd hoped and devolved into a snow fight.

Pandora enjoyed it.

Afterwards we went for a stroll around the area. There are lots of deer tracks all over the place here. Even in our backyard. It's nice to know they're around, even if we didn't actually see any.

We also took Ross down to the Freeport port. Those are piles of lobster traps behind him and Carrie.

Then it was lunch time, so we headed to Mikado's. After lunch we went in search of a movie theater Carrie had looked up that was showing The Spirit. We're still feeling our way around the area, so it took a bit to actually figure out how to get there. We arrived in the middle of the previews, but didn't miss any of the film itself. I had a difficult time getting past it not being The Spirit as I knew the character. When I finally did, I started enjoying the movie. I want to see it again so I can watch it from the beginning in the right mindset.
